Saturday was my youngest nephew’s birthday – he turned 2 years old.
As we were driving to their house we were discussing how old he was turning and my 7 year old, Matthew says to us “Yep, pretty soon will be the time he was born”. This caught me off guard so I took a second to think about it and realized he was right. I said “What do you mean?” (he couldn’t possibly remember the TIME of day Nate had been born!). Sure enough he says, “Well he was born right around dinner time remember?” (he must think I’m a total dolt some times LOL).
I said “Yes, you are completely right. I remember your uncle phoning us to tell us he was here! Great memory buddy!” The thing that gets me is that Matt was only 5 when he was born! I had no idea that that phone call would have registered as being important enough for him to still remember to this day… and yet, he still can’t “remember” to put his laundry in the hamper. Funny how the mind works
Yesterday, my 4 year-old reminded me of a visit we paid to a friend last May. He told me what we’d eaten for lunch and asked me what the cats’ names were.
