Jenn’s Trying New Foods!!

Well, I finally let go and let my hubby try to get Jenn to try some new foods and… by golly I think he’s got it LOL!

Jenn has now tried roasted chicken 3 times and… drum roll please… says she likes it – though every time she’s very unhappy about trying it, she does eat it and each time she has eaten more of it. Yay Hubby!! She has also tried grated carrots, celery, mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, peas, pork, and fried rice.

What’s the new way of doing things you say? Well, I have to admit, it does go against a lot of what I’ve read but Hubby tells her that she MUST try one bite of every food on her plate. If she cries and carries on (which is what she always used to do when we’d ask her to try a food), he calmly tells her that if she is going to behave like that, she can go to her room.

Harsh? Maybe yes. Does it work? You betcha! Thing is, we have tried just letting her be so she could just try things when she felt like it – pretty much never – but that meant that the foods she was eating were not what we were eating. We would all have spaghetti but she would have to have macaroni and cheese. At age 5 and a half, we’ve had enough of that and it’s time to try what we are eating. Finally, she is :) And when she does try a new food she is sooo proud of herself!
