School Bake Sale Perfectionism

Last night I had the immense pleasure of baking and icing 46 cupcakes for the school bake sale – good times!

Don’t get me wrong, I love to bake (and lick the bowl) and I love making homemade icing (and licking the bowl and beaters) but by 10pm last night I was wondering why I couldn’t just have donated $20 for the cause instead :)

Yes, all, I have perfectionist issues where I must get just the right cake mixes – had to have one vanilla and one chocolate to please all the children. I had to colour the vanilla icing orange for Fall and I had to use a cake decorator to put on the icing so it would look pretty… and yes, I even have pretty containers to take said cupcakes to school in.

I can’t help but wonder if the other moms feel the same pressures that I do. There is something about being a stay-at-home mom that makes me feel like my JOB is to be the prefect mommy (note to self: Work on mommy perfection ;) ) and the perfect wife (note to self: Clean toilets or risk losing badge of perfection).

Oh well, either way the cupcakes are at school, my kids were delighted with them and I still have time to clean the toilets before Dear Hubby gets home – life is good :)
