What’s so funny about gas, tooting, and burping?

Okay is it just my kids or does every child out there think passing wind - aka burping and tooting - is just the funniest thing ever? They will laugh themselves silly trying to make sounds that mimic it even.

What am I getting at you ask? Well, just that while I usually laugh right along with them, it wasn’t so funny at our local (tiny) health food store when Matt burped out loud and Jenn howled with laughter. It’s been a while since I’ve felt eyes burning into the side of my head (at least a month or so…) while in public with the kids.

What did I do to recover you ask? I looked at him (somewhat) calmly and said “you are the only person I know who burps after eating carrots and celery”. Yes, that’s right, i decided to throw the onlookers off by showing them that my child eats healthy foods (never mind that the truth was that his cousin had successfully shown him how to burp-on-demand)… then I added in a “now please say excuse me”.

Don’t worry, I did have a talk with both kids later about proper behaviour in public. I hope it worked ;)
